What is the Ultimate Sportathon?
The Ultimate Sportathon is a multi-sport competition featuring 100 teams of four members each, competing in six epic events. Season 1 events include: Go Karting, Mashie Golf, Putt Putt, Lawn Bowls, Ten Pin Bowling and a Mystery Event! Held across multiple venues, including Century Karting, Burgundy Sports Club and Edgemead Bowling Club, the competition celebrates teamwork, sportsmanship, and community spirit.
When does the Sportathon start?
The Sportathon start date is February 28th, 2026, for the Opening Ceremony and the Putt Putt event, with one event per month through to August 2026. If registration is delayed, the start date may shift, and registered teams will be notified via email and the website.
How do I register my team?
Register online through the Ultimate Sportathon website. Each team must have at least four members, pay the registration fee, agree to the Code of Conduct, and acknowledge the T&C’s in the Indemnity Form. Registration is first-come, first-served.
What is the registration fee?
- The fee is R10 000.00 per team (Max 24 players per team)
- Are there payment terms for the registration fee? Teams may pay a 50% deposit to secure their team’s spot upon registration. The balance of 50% is payable before the competition kicks off.
- A STRICT ‘NO PAY, NO PLAY’ POLICY IS IN PLACE
What does the registration fee include?
The inclusions in your team’s registration fees are;
- All scoring rounds on sanctioned event days
- Welcome pack for each competitor
- Food and drink Voucher for each event
- Equipment included for specific events: Go Karting, Putt Putt, Lawn Bowls, Ten Pin Bowling, Mystery event.
What is NOT included in the registration fee?
The exclusions from your team’s registration fees are:
- Practice rounds at any of the event venues
What is the refund policy?
Refunds are issued only if the Ultimate Sportathon is canceled by organisers due to insufficient registrations or unforeseen circumstances (e.g., venue closure). No refunds are provided for team withdrawals or no-shows. Refund requests must be submitted in writing to info@ultimatesportathon.com within 30 days of cancellation notice.\
What happens if there are errors or omissions in event information?
The organisers strive for accuracy in all event details (e.g., dates, rules, scoring). However, errors or omissions may occur. Updates will be posted on the website and communicated via email. Participants are responsible for checking the website for the latest information. Organisers reserve the right to correct errors (e.g., scoring mistakes) per the Code of Conduct, with decisions final after the appeals process.
Can the start date or schedule change?
Yes, if fewer than 100 teams register by February 1st, 2026, the start date may be postponed. Other unforeseen issues (e.g., venue availability) may also require schedule adjustments. Teams will be notified at least 30 days in advance via email and the website. The event schedule (one event per month) will remain consistent unless otherwise announced.
What are the events and their order?
The events, held one per month, are:
- February: Opening Ceremony & Extreme Putt Putt (Est. over 3 days)
- March: Ten Pin Bowling (Est. over 7 days)
- April: Go Karting (Est. over 7 days)
- May: Surprise Event (Est. over 3 days)
- June: Lawn Bowls (Est. over 4 days)
- July: Mashie Golf (Est. over 6 days) & Closing Ceremony on the final day of the event.
Important event information:
- Teams will only be required to be at the venue on the days that they are scheduled to compete, unless they wish to spectate. Each event requires only one day to register a score per team of four competitors.
- The organisers will provision additional days for cases of teams now being available, or unforeseen circumstances leading to a team not being available for an event on the day/s scheduled.
- *Note: The order of the events may change. Notice will be sent via email to team captains at least one month before the event

What is the Code of Conduct?
The Code of Conduct ensures fair play, respect, and safety. It prohibits cheating, unsportsmanlike behavior, and safety violations. Violations may result in warnings, point deductions, or disqualification, per the organizers’ discretion.

How are scores verified?
Scores are recorded on official scoring sheets, signed by the team captain, an event organizer, and a competitor from another team. This ensures transparency and accuracy, as outlined in the Code of Conduct.

Who can participate?
Teams of four, aged 16 and up, are welcome, with no upper age limit. Minors (16–17) require parental consent. All skill levels are encouraged, from beginners to experienced athletes. There are no age or gender categories. The Ultimate Sportathon is for all!
Are spectators allowed?
Absolutely, we encourage it! Spectators are welcome at all venues. All the venues have food and beverages for sale.
What happens if a team member can’t compete?
Teams may substitute one member per event with prior approval from organisers, provided the substitute signs the Code of Conduct. Notify info@ultimatesportathon.com at least 7 days before the event. A maximum of six substitutions are allowed over the entirety of the competition. No substitutions are allowed mid-event.
Are there prizes?
Yes, the top three teams overall receive trophies and prizes. CASH and sponsored prizes are up for grabs! (eg.: Physical prizes, vouchers, gift cards, merchandise, etc). The Ultiamte Sportathon also awarded Cash and Sponsored prizes for each event! Additional awards may include Best Sportsmanship or Most Creative Team Name. Prize details will be announced closer to the event.
How is safety ensured?
All venues, including Century Karting, enforce strict safety protocols (e.g., helmets for go-karting, lane rules for bowling). Participants must follow venue and event safety briefings. First aid is available on-site, and emergency protocols are in place
Can teams sponsor the event?
Yes, teams can sponsor and event. We encourage businesses or individuals to become sponsors. Sponsorship deals may be negotiated to include your team’s entrance fees. Contact info@ultimatesportathon.com for details on branding opportunities (e.g., onsite logos, banners, etc.)
What if an event is cancelled?
If an event is cancelled due to weather, venue issues, or other factors, organisers will attempt to reschedule. If rescheduling isn’t possible, points for that event will be omitted, and the overall winner will be based on the remaining events.
What if the competition is over-subscribed?
In the event that the Ultimate Sportathon receives an excess number of team entries, the decision will be made to extend the competition field to a MAXIMUM of 300 teams. This will also increase the cash prize pool accordingly to a maximum of R300 000.00 Cash!
